Who are we?
We are a dynamic couple who met just before the corona (2020), with the same vision, spirit, and above all, a lot of enthusiasm for the future.
Steven has worked his whole life in social services, Sheila has been in the chocolate industry since she was 16..
We had the same dream and went in search of a suitable house.
The house (1904) built for the
the then-director of the sugar factory caught our attention, during our visit we knew it, this is it! And so the name of our B&B became obvious...La Sucrerie!
After 2 years of renovation, we are proud of how it has turned out, with respect for the past and its high ceilings and large spaces that are warmly decorated, making you feel transported back to the Belle Époque with the amenities of the 21st century..

The garden where birds feel at home in the old tall trees, in their shade it is lovely to relax, take a book or magazine and plonk yourself down in the lounge. Playing billiards or throwing darts or like a true Frenchman... jeux de boules, the pétanque court was a must in our garden.
Environment
The Flemish Ardennes or the rolling Pays des Collines .... here it is a true paradise for cyclists and walkers, whether you enjoy climbing or prefer flat terrain, you will find it all here. Our B&B is an ideal base for visiting several major cities: Kortrijk 25 km, Tournai 20 km, Ronse 8 km, Lille (Lesquin airport) 40 km, Oudenaarde 20 km, but the greatest attractions are nearby: the Kwaremont just 6 km away with its charming village square and of course the highlight of the year, the Tour of Flanders!
Located 4 kilometres away is the beloved Knokteberg, better known as the Côte de Trieu. A true cyclist does not skip this. The Kluisberg offers hours of walking pleasure with its beautiful forest, and those who feel like a drink or a snack after so much effort can find several restaurants and tea houses hidden among the greenery..
Le Pays des Collines is vast and very suitable for cyclists due to its many beautiful quiet roads. As a walker, you can truly enjoy yourself, and the junctions guide you along forgotten forest paths with stunning views.
